Quick Answer: What Are the Best Attack Formations?
The 4-3-3 with attacking fullbacks is the reference attacking shape in FC 27: natural width for cutbacks, a single pivot who recycles possession, and wingers who isolate fullbacks one-on-one. The 4-2-3-1 attacking variant is the possession alternative; the 4-1-2-1-2 diamond is the central-overload answer.
| Formation | Attacking Strength | Key Instruction | Best Player Profile |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4-3-3 Attack | Width and 1v1 isolation | Fullbacks: overlap | Rapid inside-forwards |
| 4-2-3-1 (Attack) | Five forward in phases | CAM: free roam | Press Proven No. 10 |
| 4-1-2-1-2 (2) | Central combinations | Strikers: false nine + target man | Technical dribblers |
The 4-3-3: Width as a Weapon
The 4-3-3 attacks through the wide channels. Wingers held high pin the opposition fullbacks, which opens the half-space for the striker and the arriving No. 8. With FC 27's run types, the triggered diagonal run from the far winger across the near fullback is the single most dangerous attacking pattern in the shape.
The Narrow Diamond: Central Overload
The 4-1-2-1-2 (2) concedes the wings to win the middle. Two strikers and a CAM create triangular combinations around the opposition pivot, and every cutback has two targets. It is the highest-skill attacking shape — against a packed box it is the only shape that reliably creates, but it needs a disciplined CDM behind it.
